When i first got into poms, i could not imagine ever placing one of my adult dogs. I get very attached, and not having any children, i really view the dogs as my kids.  It didn't matter to me how much people told me someday i'd need to retire adults, i could never see myself doing that....

I really got the bug for showing and breeding a nice pom, and my goals grew bigger...and so did our pom family. What changed my mind one day was that i started to think of my dogs when they would be older...I had a 6 month old, a 1 year old, a 1 1/2 year a 2 year old.....i started to think about the what if's...and about when that time would come where i would be losing a dog i cherished one after the other someday. That's when the reality of it all hit me, and it became clear to me that it would be easier to see them go to a loving pet home where they will be loved and where i still get to see them....but still...placing my first adult was a very difficult step to take.

I decided that i would place Gadget when the time was right...didnt think of it much until one day, i received a call from someone calling for his mother. He was looking for a pom for her and the vet had given them my number. I told him i had an adult male available, and he called his mother to let her know. It turned out that they lived a couple blocks from us. They came to see Gadget, and Rick was a bit more resistant, but June wanted him right away! I agreed to let them take him home. I went over to their home that night to bring a crate by, and when i saw their home, my first thought was "they are neat freaks, they will return him as soon as he has an accident"...only, Gadget's feet never touched the ground! They became very attached to him very quickly.

Soon after, they decided that they wanted a friend for Gadget, so they brought home  a Kingsley/Cinner daughter that they named Mercedes. While Gadget is a quiet boy that loves to be held, Mercedes was the opposite, always thinking, hiding food so she has a reserve, very independant and likes to be held on her own terms and only when she wants it. She's a fun girl and a trouble maker!

Baby Mercedes

Life was great, poms were happy, Bondy's were happy....then Zia was born....my little star, premature little girl that i handraised....I adore this girl!!!

4 wks old Zia

I hoped she would grow! Everytime June came over, she would remind me that she was on loan to me, and that she was really her bitch that i was babysitting for her....I told her i'd be keeping her unless she failed to grow....which she did....lol....so one day i called June to tell her she could have her! Rick was tricked into that one (he thought they were babysitting her) lol....Their family was complete...They now had a high maintenance girl...they were sure to be busy...

Glamour Girl Zia

.....Until i bred Zorra.....

Dog show weekend, had to go in for a section with her, she had a singleton puppy boy that had a cleft palate, we had him euthanized....this was Zorra's last litter. On the way home, i was setup camping at a show for that weekend, so i asked June and Rick if they would watch Zorra for me as i didnt want to bring her to the show, and i hoped to continue showing for the rest of the weekend. They babysat her that night, and the next day came to the show and informed me that Zorra was not coming back home.....she was Rick's suck...he adores this girl.

Zorra is Zia's mom and Mercede's grandmother

I think that their pom family is complete now! I wanted to take the time to make a page for them as they are very proud of their babies, and because i truly cherish them and the life they have offered my babies. They are part of an extended family to us, and they have made retiring a dog such a positive experience for us and we're very grateful for that. Overtime we've helped each other out, cried on each other shoulder during some pommie hard times....we've enjoyed some pommie pool time, they love to come and play with our new babies and they were even there when my beloved Mitsou took her last breath.

Best of all, we know that our babies always truly get unconditional love at the Bondy's!
